Virginia offers 45 days of in-person early voting, no-excuse mail voting, and same-day registration through Election Day (provisional). One of the most accessible voting systems in the South.

Registration deadline
21 days before Election Day (online/mail). Same-day registration available through Election Day (provisional ballot).
Early voting
45 days of in-person early voting beginning the Friday 45 days before Election Day through the Saturday before.
Absentee / mail-in
Mail-in application must be received by 11 days before Election Day. Ballot must be postmarked by Election Day and received by noon the Friday after.
ID requirements
Photo ID requested but not required — sign an ID Confirmation Statement if you don't have one.
Election Day hours
Polls open 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time. If you are in line at 7:00 PM, you can vote.
