Voting Guide.

Pennsylvania offers no-excuse mail-in voting to every registered voter. Registration closes 15 days before Election Day. The state does not have traditional in-person early voting.

Early voting
No traditional early voting. You can apply for, fill out, and submit a mail-in ballot at your county election office in one visit (functional early voting).
Absentee / mail-in
Mail-in/absentee application must be received by 5:00 PM the Tuesday before Election Day. Ballot must be received by 8:00 PM Election Day.
ID requirements
ID required for first-time voters at the polls. Otherwise generally no ID required.
Election Day hours
Polls open 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time. If you are in line at 8:00 PM, you can vote.

Extra info:

  • Pennsylvania allows no-excuse mail-in voting since 2019 — apply once or sign up for permanent status.
  • Mail ballots must be RECEIVED by 8:00 PM Election Day — postmark does not count.
  • Drop boxes are available in some counties. Check vote.pa.gov for locations.
