Montana allows late registration in person at the county election office through and including Election Day. No-excuse absentee voting is available to every registered voter, and most Montanans vote by mail.

Registration deadline
Regular registration closes 30 days before Election Day. Late registration is available in person at the county election office through and including Election Day.
Early voting
In-person absentee voting begins approximately 30 days before Election Day at your county election office.
Absentee / mail-in
Apply any time before Election Day (mail). Ballot must be received by 8:00 PM Election Day — postmark is not enough.
ID requirements
Photo ID required, or two forms of non-photo ID (current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government document showing name and address).
Election Day hours
Polls open 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Mountain Time (most counties; some open at noon). If you are in line at 8:00 PM, you can vote.
