Alaska requires registration 30 days before Election Day. The state uses a ranked-choice voting system for state and federal general elections and offers in-person early voting at locations statewide.

30 days before Election Day.
Early voting
In-person early voting begins 15 days before Election Day at early voting locations and absentee voting stations statewide.
Absentee / mail-in
Apply at least 10 days before Election Day. Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received within 10 days (15 for overseas).
ID requirements
Photo ID, or two forms of non-photo ID showing your name and current address. Alternative: voter identification card or original birth certificate.
Election Day hours
Polls open 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Alaska Time. If you are in line at 8:00 PM, you can vote.
